Landing.

Look, I’m not going to lie to you and say these last two weeks have been easy. Words haven’t been easy either, and at the end of every day when I stop to reflect on what I might say, there is always a sense of something bigger happening that leaves me wide-eyed and quiet inside. It’s the kind of wide-eyed and quiet that you get when you light a candle in a dark room, and seeing it lit makes something inside you kneel down in awe. With that said, this post is more like baby steps, an attempt to find my voice again. I have no idea if it will work, but I’m trusting I’ll land exactly where I need to be. Enjoy the songs below.

This song is easy. Listening isn’t a conscious effort, much like pulling up your pants when you don’t have a belt on would be. You can just turn in on, lie back, and close your eyes. I love that about it.

A. Lex Land – As Much As You Lead (Alt: YSI)

Even though this isn’t a whole song, I love it. It’s like “Here comes Clifford, carrying a smile, sun-shine and a drum machine.” The cool thing is, he’s right here for you if you’re dreading tomorrow morning. He knows it’s Sunday, and he’s here for you.

B. T.I. Ft Akon – The Champ Is Here (Alt: YSI)

I think sometimes Les Petits Pilous wants me to die. After all, they know I can’t not dance, and they know that a night dancing to this catchy-as-hell remix will kill you. What I mean is, after the champagne, the falling and getting up, the jumping, the concussion, the falling again and the staring at the ceiling, I’ll still be fidgeting until it ends. They want that and it shows.

C. Justice Ft Mehdi Pinson – DVNO (Les Petits Pilous Remix) (Alt: YSI)

I have no idea who Matt Green is. What I do know is that he’s got this whole blur thing figured out. It’s like he’s collected all the foot stomps and the overly expensive shots of tequilla. He’s taken up the flashing lights and the skirted edges of mid-dance blackouts. He’s even pooled together the change that flew out of your pockets while you were front row, flipping out to The Presets. Now, Green has mixed them together, and he’s just waiting for you to taste-test below.

D. Britney Spears VS Martin Solveig – I Want Circus (Matt Green Mashup Mix) (Alt: YSI)

  1. Dr. Ball, You are becoming a very engaging writer, as opposed to those pedantic stepford journalists in love with their sound of their own prose. Excellent choice of material, save for Les Petits Pilous which needs serious chemical saturation to understand. Matt Green needs to give up his day job and become a full time DJ, if he has not already…great flow. Lex Land is as you describe…the rock edge of the muscianship and the mix keep the song from becoming a saccharine clone of Nora Jones. I would modify the simile of pants to your favorite old pair of jeans or chinos fresh out the dryer…warm and soft, but still a sense of substance.

One suggestion, is there any other ISP you can use for the music that doesn’t bombard me with bad pornography (is there really good pornography?). It really contaminates the positive emotion of the music and ease of your commentary.

ps. Sorry I spaced this morning…old age and tequlia are clearly catching up to the old man.

    Love, Dad
